520 West 28th Street is a striking and sculptural residential building located in Manhattan’s West Chelsea neighborhood, designed by the late, world-renowned Iraqi-British architect Zaha Hadid. It’s one of her most iconic and rare New York City contributions and stands as a testament to her signature style of futuristic, curvaceous forms and avant-garde elegance.
This was Zaha Hadid’s first and only residential building in New York City before her passing in 2016. The design is a direct expression of her distinctive style:
• Interlacing chevron patterns and sweeping curves define the steel façade.
•The structure blends organically with the High Line, appearing almost as an extension of the park’s sinuous, flowing character.
•Interior layouts are open, modern, and fluid, often with sculptural staircases and built-in custom elements.
•Many residences include private balconies and floor-to-ceiling windows.
